Fuel crisis means more interest in EV's

A knee jerk reaction or common sense for UK car buyers? How long does it need to go on before we all react (if we can afford to - or afford not to?).

I read with interest a Guardian article a couple of days ago about interest in EV’s surging in Europe.

Funny how it is not incentives or climate targets driving EV interest right now, it is fuel prices. I read about how the situation in Iran has pushed petrol and diesel prices up again across Europe, and almost overnight more people have started seriously looking at electric cars. Not because they have suddenly become passionate about going electric, but because they are sitting down and properly working out what it is costing them to run their current car.

When filling up starts to feel like a hit every single time, people naturally begin to question whether there is a better option. I am already noticing the shift in the conversations I am having, with far more people asking whether going electric actually makes sense for them compared to even a few months ago. It is not driven by hype, it is coming from a very real place of wanting to control costs and make a smarter long term decision.

The reality is though that electric cars are not automatically the right answer for everyone, and this is where a lot of people get caught out. For some drivers they are a brilliant fit and can save a lot of money, but for others they can end up being the wrong move if their usage, budget or circumstances do not line up properly.

Recently I have worked with several clients who have made the move to electric and plug in hybrid, and for the right people it has made a huge difference both financially and in day to day driving. The key has been making sure the choice actually fits their lifestyle rather than just following the trend.

That is exactly where I come in. I help people cut through all the noise and work out what actually makes sense for their situation, whether that ends up being electric, hybrid or simply sticking with petrol or diesel for now. The goal is always the same, to avoid expensive mistakes and make a decision that genuinely works in the real world.

If the recent rise in fuel costs has got you thinking about changing your car, it is worth taking a proper look at your options before jumping into anything.

Drop me a message, happy to have the conversation and see if I can help.
